    The Heart’s Content Mizzen Heritage Society concert night presents: ‘Colleen Power’ live in concert

    Award-winning bilingual singer/songwriter Colleen Power is returning to historic Hearts Content on Saturday, May 11 with bandmate and multi-instrumentalist Jason Whelan. The two will perform songs from Colleen’s extensive catalogue, along with a few surprises and  stories. 

    Colleen says, “I am so happy to come back to this beautiful community to perform a full night of songs with Jason. I was delighted to write a song dedicated to Heart’s Content, which is featured on the Bell FibeTV1 program ‘Sing Me Home.’ I was entranced by the rich history and beauty of the place.”  

    About Colleen:

    Colleen Power hails from Freshwater, Placentia Bay and is based in St. John’s. She is a prolific and creative force in the Newfoundland and Labrador music scene. Always engaging, Colleen comfortably embraces diverse musical styles, with lyrics ranging from heartfelt to comedic, political to personal, often with strong Newfoundland content and themes. Colleen is host of the Bell Fibe TV1 mini-series “Sing Me Home”, and past commissioned songwriter for CBC Radio One NL. Her English and French songs have been featured in films, television series and on radio stations around the world. Her YouTube videos have become viral, with ‘New Townie Man’ reaching over 150,000 views.     The Heart’s Content Mizzen Heritage Society is having a Kitchen Party and you are invited!  Come on down to the Heart’s Content Regional Centre for the Arts and treat yourself to an evening of great music by some of our most talented local performers, and don’t forget to bring your friends, neighbours and family…everyone is always welcome!

    The doors will open at 6:30 pm with the shows commencing at 7:30 pm.  Light refreshments will be available for purchase during the evening.

    Michael Conway takes audiences on a wild ride performing stage magic, festival entertainment, and private functions. After performing thousands of shows over the past 15 years, Michael has acquired the skills and experience necessary to help make your event a success.

    He’s no stranger to the big stage, having been featured on YTV, CBC, Rogers TV, and TedX. Michael is also comfortable performing in smaller settings, such as corporate events for organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ronald McDonald House, and Cineplex.

    The Heart’s Content Mizzen Heritage Society concert night presents: ‘Rum Ragged’ live in concert

    An evening of sharing old photos of Heart’s Content..

    When: 7:30PM, July 17th, 2024

    Where: The Heart’s Content Regional Centre for the Arts

    Details: This event is an evening of sharing old photos of Heart’s Content. The photo show consists of a presentation of photos of Heart’s Content and the Town’s people past and present.

    All are welcome and please bring along your old photos so that they can be scanned, shared, and added to our heritage collection.

    The Heart’s Content Mizzen Heritage Society concert night presents: ‘FOREVER YOUNG’ live in concert

    Time & Date: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 17th, 2024

    Location:  Heart’s Content Regional Centre for the Arts

    A musical tribute to the evolution of Classic Rock ‘n Roll exploring the early pioneers of the Rockabilly Sound from artists like Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and, of course, The King, Elvis Presley…
    To the vocal groups famous for their harmonies starting with the Righteous Brothers and Culminating with The Bee Gees.

    It will be a night to revisit your pop, folk and country rock from the 50s, 60s, and 70s.
    Remembering the greats that made it all happen Del Shannon, Tommy James, Three Dog Night, CCR and even Canada’s own Blue Rodeo.
